BOONE, NC - Local non-profit organization High Country Pride donates a scholarship valued at $1000 to a local student. The annual award is open to any student seeking post-secondary college education including GED (or high school diploma equivalent), Associate's or technical degrees. Congratualtions to this year's winner, Gabe (pictured below with High Country Pride presidents).


HCP Social Work Equality Scholarship - $500
The Social Work Equality Scholarship is a privately sponsored academic award for a student who identifies as gay, lesbian or transgender and is actively enrolled in the bachelors of Social Work or Masters of Social Work program at Appalachian State University. Apply for the HCP Academic Award - $500
The High Country Pride Academic Award is open to any students seeking post-secondary college education at a university, college or technical school including GED (or high school diploma equivalent). The award is open to students in Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Yancey & Wilkes Counties. Applicants must be registered for three-quarter time attendance in a post-secondary institution at the time of application. The applicant's self-identification must be lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, or ally with demonstrated community service relevant to the LGBTIQ community.
